The Ministry of State Security (SSPE), in coordination with federal authorities, managed to seize over 5,000 liters of gas from a site located along the highway that stretches between Querétaro and San Luis de la Paz.
The clandestine gas station was detected during an operation organized along the Querétaro-San Luis de la Paz highway and was subsequently seized by the state and federal authorities.
Following its discovery yesterday afternoon, federal agents, members of the Ministry of State Security and State Security Forces arrived on the scene and arrested 4 people, including 3 minors and one adult.
The confiscated fuel and the suspects detained on site were handed over to the federal authorities.
Last year, Pemex made 16 reports to the police after detecting cases of illegal tapping of its pipelines in several parts of the state of Guanajuato. The largest number of cases was found in the municipalities of Salamanca and Silao.
Just last weekend, the State Ministry of Public Security uncovered two other instances of illegal tapping in Silao. After a report was made to the police, agents of the Silao municipal police requested the help of Civil Protection and found a double-barrel pipeline that illegally extracted fuel from a Pemex mainline in the vicinity of the Nuevo México district of Silao.
The second tapping was detected near La Mocha community, also in Silao.
Upon arriving at the site, they found the illegally installed pipelines, but were unable to detain those responsible. Pemex personnel and the Federal Police came on the scene and undertook the necessary inspections to provide a full report of the incident.
